If you\’re at the stage where you lie in bed in the morning dreading getting up and going to work, then perhaps you\’re ready for a career change. They say money makes the world go round, so if you\’re interested in precisely how it does that, and you know you can work well under pressure, then you could probably benefit from looking into a banking apprenticeship. Obviously, you won\’t be making a lot of money during your apprenticeship… but the experience you gain during that time is going to be priceless.
The qualifications you receive will work towards you gaining a highly paid job in the future. Apprenticeships give you the chance to earn whilst you learn, and in a profession such as this, learning the basics to a high standard is vital in order to set in you good stead for the future. As an apprentice banker you could be completing a number of tasks and gaining experience in different areas of the profession such as, working in retail banking, otherwise known as high street banking.
This would involve being based in a high-street bank branch, helping customers and advising them on their personal finances. During an apprenticeship, you can expect to work in several other roles as well: insurance clerk, cashier, investment administrator… or as a customer services representative. You would obviously have an introduction to the theory behind each of these roles, but as with everything else, the best way of learning is by doing. On completion of your apprenticeship, you can expect a starting salary of between 11,000 and 15,000. Emphasis on the word \”starting\”, beacuse there will be a lot more to look forward to!
You can further your apprentice by taking an advanced course. Throughout this specific course, you learn about advising on financial products, focusing upon mortgages, insurance or other financial matters such as pensions and saving.
The jobs you experience are much more advanced in comparison to the standard apprenticeship. You become much more involved with customers and the financial market. After completing this apprenticeship, you can expect to earn a starting salary of 18k due to the advanced area of work you have taken part in.
